Cold at the Track

It's pretty common knowledge I like to handicap the greyhound and horse races.
But, that's tough to do when you're in a slump.
While I'm not behind overall, it's been awhile since I finished above even.
I always tout the fun of going to the track, and the deciphering of the puzzle that is a pari-mutuel race. But, I don't like to come out behind.
I think the cold weather has a lot to do with it. The animals run a bit differently in those conditions, and I've got to adjust a bit.
You can have a system, or always look for this or that in a program. But if you're unable or won't adjust to conditions, you'll lose.
Guess I better follow my advice!
